Uncharted 4: Multiplayer Beta Preview
This past Wednesday I was lucky enough to get a hands on sneak peak at the Uncharted 4: Multiplayer Beta.
Lets just say the opportunity left me giddy as a school girl. I am a massive Uncharted fan and cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment. While I didn't get very long with it, what I did get to play has left me wanting more. I sit down, pick my preferred load-out, pick who I want to run around as and with 9 others hold my breath for it to start!
The first thing you notice is this is very "Uncharted" I know that sounds a little weird, but let me explain.
As soon as you pick up the controls you know what you're doing. It was like catching up with an old friend. The movement is fluid, climbing, dodging, ducking, rolling or hiding in cover are all done with ease and the animations associated with it looked fantastic. There is a new addition of a grappling hook for swinging around on and once you get used to it, a lot of fun can be had.
We were playing a 5v5 Team Death Match, and let me just say, I suck at multiplayer. I know I do, I embrace it and usually just stay away, but for the Uncharted 4 multiplayer the learning curve is not too steep and I was finding myself making a contribution to my own team, not so much the other side.
The map is just the right size with plenty of options for attack and defense. Gun mechanics are pretty standard but I do have to note the beat downs are brutal yet strangely satisfying. More than once, we all laughed out at a player crawling away waiting for help only to have an opposing team member give them a swift kick in the head to end any hope of salvation.
One thing to say on the negative is the graphics did look a little grainy, but being it is only a beta I am not concerned, it's more of a heads up.
For those of you lucky enough to be playing the beta this weekend, you're going to have a ball. Give us a shout out and we can get some games in together.
The beta is live Friday 4th Dec 2015 from 5:00am
A big thanks goes out to Naughty Dog and OneGreenBean for the opportunity.
