When will Tropico 6 release?
2018

Who is developing Tropico 6?
Tropico 6 will be developed by Limbic Entertainment, located in Langen, Germany.
Before starting Limbic, the three founders were game developers at Sunflowers GmbH, one of Germany's leading computer game producers. During their time at Sunflowers, Stephan Winter, Eike Radunz and Alexander Frey contributed to titles such as ANNO 1602 – NINA, ANNO 1503 and TechnoMage.

Why did you move to Limbic Entertainment as developer for Tropico6?
We conducted a worldwide search for a team to work on Tropico 6, receiving pitches from several developers, including Haemimont. In the end we felt that Limbic Entertainment had the best and most exciting proposal, coupled with the experience and skills necessary to achieve that vision. With Tropico 6, we also wanted to ensure that the game could release on all platforms simultaneously, and working with this experienced developer enables us to do that. We think that Tropico fans everywhere will be as thrilled with Limbic’s approach to the game as we are.

Will Tropico 6 follow on from Tropico 5’s storyline?
So will it be a fully-fledged sequel, or a reboot?
Tropico 6 will not continue the storyline of Tropico 5. The game will feature a campaign mode across 15 scenarios that will tell 15 unique stories (think South Park, rather than Lord of the Rings).
Examples of scenarios are:
·         El Presidente wanting to rule the world of sports by abducting an American baseball team.
·         The Intellectuals installing an AI to rule Tropico’s politics based on information obtained by analysing social network data.
·         An alternative timeline in which the Eastern Bloc takes over the world after World War 2 and includes Tropico in their communist collective.
·         A Noir-inspired mission in which El Presidente has to assist the leader of the religious party in sabotaging the operation of the Axis in Tropico.

Players will meet a wide-ranging cast of quirky new characters as well as some returning fan favourites like Penultimo, El Presidente’s loyal advisor, and Sunny Flowers, Tropico’s good conscience for all things regarding Mother Earth.

What are the main differences between the older Tropico games and Tropico 6?
For the first time in the series, Tropico 6 will feature not just one huge Island, but many archipelagos, consisting of many smaller islands with unique properties, allowing for unique gameplay scenarios.
Islands are connected by boat and bridges.

Archipelagos bring a new and interesting challenge to the established gameplay formula. Players have to plan their cities and production chains across greater distances and according to the conditions of the different islands.

Also new to the Tropico series: Raids.

With the four unique raid buildings, players will be able to send out Tropicans on raids, which result various different outcomes like getting additional resources, technologies, manipulating trading prices, changing diplomacy ratings and antagonizing world superpowers.

There are also specialized raids for multiplayer mode, offering a subtle way to sabotage your rivals.
With the raid buildings, players also have the opportunity to start World Wonder Heists.

Every heist has a unique narrative plot befitting of Tropico‘s unique tone.

Starting a heist will result in several steps forcing players to make choices (e.g. costs could increase, diplomacy with superpowers could be decreased, or you may need more time to successfully finish the heist, etc).

Up to 17 Wonders are waiting to be stolen, including well known landmarks such as Stonehenge, Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty. Wonders are unique buildings with a strong impact on gameplay. Therefore, we are currently planning that players will only be able to complete one world wonder heist per building, so the maximum of world wonders on an island in a standard game is 4.
Customize your palace - This time around, El Presidente’s (in)famous residence has a modular design, allowing the palace to be customized and even relocated.
10 customizable slots and 6+ variations per slot mean that there are over 1 million unique combinations available to players for them to realize their opulent, despotic vision.
Transportation and infrastructure - El Presidente does not like travelling in a llama-cart, so this time Tropico will offer more transport options, such as taxis, buses, aerial cable cars and more.

Additionally, there will be more infrastructure options, such as tunnels and bridges that can go between islands or over rivers.

More visual diversity - All residential buildings and many infrastructure buildings have three variations each, so 30 in total.

Props will appear on existing buildings, e.g. TV antennas, air conditioners, etc.
Visualization of other gameplay effects includes details like cracked walls on old buildings, pollution, broken windows and even graffiti in areas with high crime rates.

What has stayed the same, and what has changed to make the game better?
·         Tropico 6 will be the most beautiful game in the franchise and will feature a greater range of visual variety, ensuring that everything will always look like the paradise on earth that the Tropican foreign office would have you believe it is…
·         Classic Tropico gameplay: the player fills the role of the (mostly) benevolent dictator El Presidente to rule his/her state with an open heart and an iron first. Make decisions for everything that is going on in Tropico; from crops and wages to big decisions like your immigration policy or your relationships with the major superpowers of the world.
·         Everything in the game is simulated. Tropicans have their own needs, like a craving for entertainment or the hope for a fair wage that players will need to fulfil in order to win the next election. If things are not looking good, El Presidente can still send certain insubordinate individuals on a long vacation…just to make sure.
·         Tropico 6 will feature a more challenging balancing act for the different factions and superpowers. Juggling the approval of the different political parties will be more nuanced, and getting everyone’s approval is an achievement reserved only for the most skilled and righteous of Presidentes.
·         Tropico 6 will feature more buildings out of the box than any Tropico before: 150+ buildings will give players the tools for every situation and also offer a lot of visual variety for players who just want to build a Caribbean paradise. Tropico 6 will also feature new means to improve the infrastructure by building bridges and constructing specialized buildings such as landings, bus depots and aerial cable car stations.
·         Be the dictator you want to be: Players can express themselves by customizing their avatar, their palace, election speeches, the Tropican flag and El Presidentes personal means of transportation.

Which factions and characters can we expect?
For sure El Presidente will be headlining Tropico 6, accompanied by his most trusted subordinate: Penultimo.

Other classic characters are set to return, as well as brand-new characters such as The Broker, who will offer enticing deals and offers to encourage El Presidente to add to or spend his Swiss Bank account money.
